WOYWW

Welcome to my mess! Most of you know that Wednesday is "What's on your Workdesk Wednesday" when people from all over the globe share their workspaces be them messy, tidy or empty!

On my desk this week is my tunnel book.  A lot of people commented on my last WOYWW that they were unsure what a tunnel book was.  Well, basically its  a book where you cut an aperture from each page (usually working large to small) and decorate the pages.  This is my first ever one and its even more difficult as groups of 4 are setting the theme for their book, decorating a couple of pages before posting it to the next person on the list...and so on until it comes back to you.  This means I will have 4 books to decorate but only one with my chosen theme-I think it will be an interesting journey and lots of fun!

My theme is Discworld in honour of Terry Pratchett, one of my favourite modern authors who sadly recently died. In my late teens I fell out of love with reading and my younger brother convinced me to read one of his books.....I fell back in love with reading and as they say, the rest is history.

The book is a kiddies board book for 50p from a charity shop and I peeled and sanded the pictures off before gesso'ing and cutting the pages ready to decorate.

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week are 'Psychic Rips of Thousands'......now where do I start with this one!!!!!

Happy crafting and I hope to see many of you at the WOYWW crop soon
(I haven't even started my ATC's yet, but I will soon-honest).

Craft Show catch up

Just a quick catch up.  A few of us from The Coven went to the Shepton Mallet craft show on Friday (much better than a day at the office).

The last few shows I have been to have been a bit of a let down and I have come away with very little.  This show is a nice size though it did seem like there were quite a few of non stitch/craft stalls.  I don't know if this is because of the cost of stalls or some other reason but I did struggle to find many of the items on my list!  For example, there was lots of cross stitch but no tapestry.

Luckily Siesta were there so I was able to get my tapestry frame, leather needles and quilting ruler (I find their stall has lots of goodies and their team are really knowledgeable about the products too).

I also bought a text embossing folder, some cork camera embellishments (I intend to paint these) and a large roll of washi tape.  There was also a fabulous company that sold food grade silicon moulds.  I have been trying to find a decent wine bottle stamp for some years (still no luck) so when I saw these little wine bottle moulds (there is even a mateus rose bottle complete with the raffia bottle!!  Oh that takes me back) I couldn't resist.

The only other thing I bought was some fat quarters.  I did promise myself I wouldn't buy any fabric but these were lovely so I relented!

So not too big a haul, no papercrafting bargains but still a lovely day out.

Happy crafting

Wedding across the pond

I am hoping this is ok to show as this is a card I made my friend in America for his Wedding so hopefully he would have seen it by now!

Josh was my penfriend at school.....we 'met' through a CB Radio magazine (I know, but it was the early 80's!!) and have kept in touch ever since.  Josh recently married Caitlin (hello...waving to you both!) but we were unable to go so I thought I would make them a special card.  The photos from the day looked absolutely wonderful and I wish I could have shared it with them.

Congratulations to you both

WOYWW

Hello peeps.  So What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday is here again!!  That time when people from across the globe all come together and share their desks (or floor) of shame.

This week I actually have crafting going on!  I am taking part in a Tunnel Book swap.  Now I have never made a tunnel book before so this is a whole new experience, but I like the idea of making a couple of pages and posting it to the next person for them to do their page and so on until it comes back to me.  Sounds fun, now I just need to start!!

So I have bought a kids board book from a charity shop and have been sanding the pages back ready for cutting and gesso'ing before I can start decorating.

My "Man Bites Dog" cards this week are 'Last Angry Angel Bites Killer'......ooh reminds me of the wheeping angels in Dr Who.......that awful scene where the angel statue bares its teeth

oh yeah...this one!!!

Sorry could not resist!

Happy crafting
